Day 1- Cross-Canada roadtrip with Sam

-Saw deer at the side of the road...it was trying to decide whether or not to cross the highway. It is a good thing it did not cross in front of me; got scared of our car or the pack of motorcycles coming the other direction.
-We ended up by-passing Sudbury! I'm a little sad about that...we should have gone to see the Big Nickel! Oh well...instead, we detoured further down the highway into some random town named Whitefish and had lunch at a church with no one there. We stopped in the parking lot and made/ate our Mennonite salami sandwiches on a ratty looking picnic table with a pot of dead flowers. Sweet. No one bothered us, haha. Yay for the church, it turned up at the perfect time.
-I've now gotten 10 mosquito or black fly bites in the span of 3 days...they seem to be able to tell who the city folk are. :P
-It has been really hot and somewhat humid...a bit extreme for mid-June! It feels like August and I'm thankful for A/C in the car!
-Sault St Marie has a lovely boardwalk and canal locks system, which we walked up for a bit to work up our appetites before heading to Sam's relative's house for dinner, a cool shower and a nice bed to sleep in.
-Next stop, Thunder Bay!
